Maybe Yes, maybe No.
The purpose of advertising is to invite people to
give your business a try or remind those who
have done business with you in the past that
you are still there and still doing business.
If you offer a lousy customer experience,
miserable products, crumby service, no
guarantee of satisfaction, advertising only
makes your business end sooner.

Some businesses DON'T need to advertise
because they do such a good job they have
more customers than they can serve. Add to
that, they don't want to get any larger than
they are for their own reasons.
Vendors in this category are often some of the
best you may encounter. You meet them
serendipitously, at a party, in line at the airport,
a friend recommends them. Their passion and
knowledge about their business attracts you
to them. When or if you need their service you
call them if you asked for a card or remember
their name.
The same can be said for some manufacturers
of specialty products.
Just because you never heard of a company
or business does not make it unworthy of your
being a customer.
