RE: Launching New Browser Window

I have followed the _launching new browser_ topic with
interest and there have been some good points raised.
One further point I_d like to make is that when deciding which
route to go down a publisher should carefully consider the
content of the page and the content of the link.

For example if a user is reading a news article and that
article contains links to other sites providing additional
info, then it_s probably okay to presume the visitor will want
to come back to your site pretty quickly, and offering them
the new browser route would make sense.

On the other hand, if the user clicks on an advertisement
then obviously a new browser window would be rude and
inappropriate to both the user and the advertiser.

We personally provide the user with both options taking the
above into consideration, and it does not seem to affect our
traffic levels, or repeat visits.

Hope this adds a different perspective.

Thanks.
