I recently ran my first national promotional contest,
featuring a computer prize. I made a few mistakes that
you might want to think about.
1. The company that supplied the computer need to be
signed off from any liability.
2. I needed to show this computer company that I had
3rd part indemnification insurance at $1 million.
3. In Canada, where the contest was run, I needed to
get a special license from the Quebec govt in order
to offer the contest in that Province.
4. I needed to submit my contest copy and ad work to
the Quebec licensing board prior to running the contest.
4. I needed to include the rules of the contest up-front
in the promotion.
5. I needed to obtain a lottery license for running a
contest for the rest of Canada.
Hope this helps. It is good question, that most people take for granted.
