log file analyzer

As a new start up e-commerce company, we have been
avoiding purchasing software, advertising, equipment,
etc. until we absolutely need them. Well the time has
come for us to purchase log analyzer software, and I
was hoping I could get some advice on what the best
options are. I have used Virtual WebTrends (a freebie
version from my ISP), and am completely unimpressed.
Are any of you using the commercial version of WebTrends?

Also, we purchased an opt-in mailing last week (to 2000
addresses, the most we could afford), and I have seen
absolutely no results (maybe those log files will at
least show an increase in traffic). I would love to
hear any suggestions about reputable opt-in email
companies and what kind of results these mailings
typically get, or if there is a better way to be
spending our (limited) advertising dollars.
