Beyond click through solutions

I"d appreciate hearing some solutions for measuring the
detailed effectiveness of advertising - beyond just click
throughs, referral logs and page views.

Let's say I do a text ad on Ask.com - how can I
effectively, but easily measure the results of that ad
on my site?

Also are there firms I can hire (small or large) that
can do the whole thing for me.
