Just had to pop in here to mention that last week, I was
speaking at the E-Commerce 2001 conference in Hawaii.
Aside from getting a killer tan, the best part was meeting
Randy Conrads, founder of Classmates.com.
Anyone who thinks the internet is untried, unproven or
unworkable has got to hear his story.
He had a solid concept, bootstrapped it from the word go,
negotiated his advertising rates like crazy -- and ended up
in the top 30 most visited sites on the web while running a
profit. Today, he's the gorilla brand in the market. The
VC's practically begged him to let them give him money.
And it was all built with online advertising -- nothing else.
This is no fluke, folks.
