reports/articles on the ineffectiveness of offline ads

I know they exist, but can someone refer me to any
articles or reports about the ineffectiveness of offline
advertising driving traffic to the web. I am currently
dealing with several dot coms advertising prospects
that tell me they spend much more on offline
advertising than online, which makes little sense to me.
