I understand how you might compare Internet advertising
to driving down the Las Vegas Strip.....
It certainly depends on the types of sites you are
surfing. Even so, those big signs on the Las Vegas
Strip do attract customers... otherwise they wouldn't
exist (or cost so much).
Also, many sites (especially in The Premium Network
http://www.premiumnetwork.com) do not blow glitz, flash,
and annoying pop-ups at you. A huge majority of these
sites have a tremendous loyal following be it techies
looking for code samples, to parents looking for family
oriented resources, to hardcore gaming resources. When
you advertise on a site that people are truly interested
in the content, spend more time at, and actually value
your message (be it correctly targeted) has a better
chance of rising above the noise.
Don't get me wrong.. there are tons of pay-to-surf,
gaming sites, adult oriented sites, that will absolutely
bombard you (sometimes to the point of re-booting!).
But if you make smart buys with trusted partners you
will be much better off.
One final note... one of the benefits of buying
advertising through a network (aside from the HUGE
PRICE ADVANTAGE) is that you have someone who can be
held accountable for performance, that has technology
and expertise at their disposal to work with you to
optimize and tweak your campaign real-time and further
your ROI.
