<Brilliant marketing. besides, billboards don't have

I realize that this is off-base regarding the subject
of why online advertising sucks but I have to ask...
Who says billboards don't have the annoyance factor of
any other kind of ad??? They're not in your face? I
truly hate billboards - they clutter up the highway
ruining any scenery that may be left and driving through
a city is like being pounded on the head by numerous
sales people...buy me, NO buy me, NO BUY ME! There are
so many billboards along the highway that you can't
possibly have time to read them all - assuming that it
was safe to do so. I mean, who wants another driver
speeding down I95 through Richmond, VA actually reading
the signs? Pay attention to the road - billboards are
for passengers. A long time ago I read a short poem that
has stuck with me all these years...

I think that I shall never see
A billboard lovely as a tree
In fact unless the billboards fall
I'll never see a tree at all.

At least internet advertising doesn't put my life in
danger from careless drivers or spoil my vacation by
blocking the perfect picture - it just annoys me by
slowing down my page load and flashing in my face...
