I considered opening a CJ awhile back upon the enthusiastic
recommendation of a former customer. He's had great luck
with his CJ account.
I decided not to open a CJ account but here's what I learned
during my investigation.
Negatives:
1) CJ sales folks were quite unresponsive to our mails. Most
of my mails to them went unanswered completely. The replies
I did receive were sloppy and very incomplete (if I asked
three questions they might answer half of one for example).
2) CJ fraud security was completely inadequate for our
needs. Another friend gave me full access to his CJ account
and I was able to enter many faked subscriptions to his
account in just minutes of experimenting. No special skills
were needed, just normal browser experience. I wrote the
fraud address provided on the CJ and no one ever responded.
I don't want to offer details here other than to say the $35
PERL program I use to manage our partner relationships is
far superior to CJ when it comes to fraud security.
Positives:
1) CJ probably has the largest network of affiliates so
you shouldn't discount them without a thoughtful review
of your needs and their abilities. Again, the person
who introduced me to CJ is very happy with his account.
2) I got to explore a real CJ merchant account for about
a week and I was quite impressed with the interface.
It offers many useful options and a lot of information
about how your program is working for you.
Hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Phil
