Re: Why online advertising sucks
Listening to this group talk about how much they HATE
banners, billboards, and other forms of advertising is
really starting to make me queasy.
We should all be able to appreciate the fact that
there is *good* advertising, and there is _bad_
advertising... then there's just "huh?" advertising.
In any case -- stop beating around the bush, and blaming
fatal accidents on billboards.
I'm guessing that something like .001% of all car
accidents are caused by people who read the billboards.
The rest of them are caused mainly by:
- Males, age 16-25
- Careless people
- Stupid people (this one includes drunk drivers)
- Animals... mainly, cats (hey, hasn't anyone in here
ever watched Saturday Night Live??)
When I see/hear a good TV, billboard, banner, or radio
advertisement, I lock it away in my mind.
I am constantly learning from such advertisements, so
that I can apply what I learn from them to my OWN ads.
I also do this conversely with BAD advertisements, and
learn from other people's mistakes.
And, in conclusion (do I always say that when I end
my post? Darnit... time to come up with another one)...
Please, stop the bitching, and START LEARNING! When was
the last time you heard of a guy who can't move his legs
anymore because of some lousy billboard advertisement?
