What is Going on with RealNames

When one of our clients launched in April, 2000, we
paid $100 for the RealName to ensure top of list
placement on their the trade name right from the start
in AltaVista and others.

We just received an invoice for renewal at half the
price. We don't plan to pay it because we now have top
position on all of the search engines on the business
name, but I don't see RealNames on AltaVista any more.

Does anyone know the status? Are RealNames even worth
$50?
