I think there was more to the failure of NBCi than how
it was marketed. I tried a couple of simple searches with
it and did not find the results particularly accurate. I
did find the results were heavily weighted toward NBC
programs when they had nothing to do with what was being
searched.
It's quite possible that internet users want their search
services to be impartial so that results are not skewed
in one direction or another. It felt to me that NBCi
was just an extension of NBC.com. Many people I know feel
Go.com is just an extension of Disney.
Neither Go.com nor NBCi.com brought anything new to the
party and both were late in arriving. It should not
surprise anybody that both have been pulled. What is
surprising is that the managers of these NBC and Disney
keep wasting shareholder resources in the hopes of
bringing these entities back from the grave.
