I'll right-click on banner ads if they present content
that is relevant to my interest at the moment. I don't
like to abandon a Web page I've just loaded unless I
decide it's not what I'm looking for. If I cannot
right-click, I'll move on and never return to the page.
The ads I never click on are the super-doopey flashers,
the almost totally blank ads, the ads that say nothing
relevant about whatever they are advertising.
I actually wonder if the overall number of click-throughs
has only declined a little since the first banner ads
appeared, and if the dropping percentages aren't mostly
a reflection of the fact that there are now so many more
Web sites and ads for people to see. Maybe the aggregate
click-throughs per day has actually increased, but not at
the exponential rate required to keep pace with the glut
of inventory and advertisements.
