As an email solution reseller, I shopped around quite
thoroughly about 8 months back to find an email provider
with the best technology and the best value for my
clients. I compared Responsys, Message Media as well
as e2Communications among others and finally went with
e2 as my solution that I recommend to clients for a
number of reasons;

1) Technology - technically, e2 has the most advanced
offer in terms of having the capability to manage both
inbound and outbound email programs (CRM capabilities),
which many other solutions like Responsys do not have
2) CRM Ability - with e2, you can set up "case-tracking"
mail boxes to search inbound email subject and body text
to sort messages into the appropriate folders (e.g. for
customer service follow-up)
3) Mult-Step Marketing - the key benefit, in my opinion,
of e2's solution is their unique Adaptive Sequenced
Messaging (ASM) technology which allows you to conduct
advanced mult-step marketing programs - with this
technology, e2's database keeps a history of all click
activity so that you can retarget only those customers
who have clicked on links, so that you can send them
more personalized offers and tailor communications in
subsequent campaigns
4) Hosted ASP - e2 is a fully self-service ASP portal
accessed with a user-ID and password, so no installation
or upfront costs and is highly scalable so that it can
deploy over 2 million messages per hour (e.g. this can
take days for some competitors)
5) Cost - contractually, e2 does not require a lengthy
6 or 12 month contract with huge training or upfront
fees and charges on a month to month basis, so if
clients are not happy, they can terminate the service
(competitors charge upwards of $5,000 to $10,000 for
training and licence fees in addition to per mail charges)
