Here is an actual Goto link from Altavista (PLEASE DO
NOT CLICK ON THE LINK AS IT WILL COST THE ADVERTISER
6 cents per click):

http://jump.altavista.com/av4/spon_res.go?http://www.goto.com/d/sr?xargs=00u3hs9yoaj0UOwSCDRBAGv7vOgqv0PYpgPZwH9FIIY2sBodJsL7+TansmbNhnZmzeBEJJBOw1Wq+ayYEkeFARad2awFRzYXkPUwzr4oEPHVVdIwNmi3E5s/bOwhaluPOUY5ERUmHqfrqOXopVkYA+eFlsHyXMTMXeWbN5sinPNZv4uSSvOrFSaQvUu+xrpjW5+D6EHRQRo5byJOsvPpi9&bid=0.06

There are three parts to this link:

http://jump.altavista.com/av4/spon_res.go?

http://www.goto.com/d/sr?

and the rest.

The Altavista part of the URL invokes a script on
Altavista which registers the click-through and redirects
the visitor to Goto. The Goto part of the URL invokes a
script on Goto which registers the click-through and
redirects the visitor to the actual Web site.

I don't believe there is any way for the advertiser to
determine that the click-through came from Altavista.
