Even though caches block some of my banners, undercount
my advertising, and don't always keep my page views up
to date, they are now my best friend! My site is
ranked 28,710 with Alexa, but my logs say it only
receives 25,000 unique visitors a month. I talked
with some site owners (and looked at their web stats)
and sites in the 30k to 20k ranking receive between
150k - 500k unique visitors per month.

Caches are allowing me to reach a larger audience with
less server load. I am also looking as services like
http://www.solidspeed.com to get even closer to the
customer. From a business associates aol.com account
I do find they stay about a day behind in page updates,
but with some simple tweaking their proxies follow
revalidate rules. Now my site is pretty plain,
extremely low graphics, so your actual results may
vary, but for more information about working with
caches check out http://www.mnot.net/cacheability

I think advertisers should measure their ad performance
by the money it generates, not necessarily the number
of individuals it reaches. Maximum reach should be
determined as a part of distribution and not a measure
of success --- sales is a measure of success. After
all, no sales, no more ads.

Have a great one!

Best regards,

Justin
