Re: Will They Pay? was RE: Salon.com and taller ads
MICHAEL MARTINEZ <Michael_at_xenite.org> WROTE:

TO WHICH JOHN GASKILL <gm_at_info-central-usa.com> REPLIED:

Gotta go with John on this one, with the exception that
in this day and age, people are starting to realize
that namse and e-mail addresses don't pay the rent.
Quick story: I launched FrankelBiz for free about
three years ago. It's still free. Announced FrankelTips
ONLY to that group -- at a charter subscription rate and
picked up a few hundred subscribers in the first four days.
It's that branding thing again.
"Monetizing the web" are the watch words of the next 12
months. If you had built your brand on the free model,
this is the time to begin moving toward offering paid
product. If they believe in your brand, you can indeed
sell content. And I've got the VISA receipts to prove
it.

for your brand."
