I have been advertising on-line for about 3 years now
and my strategy is simple.
I only advertise on popular search engines using key
words and some run of channel if none of my keywords
are available. My variable is the creative, i.e. banner,
button, text link, etc.
I wanted to hear from anyone who uses the same model to
compare CPMs and click thru rates.
I would like to know:
1) if others have been successful in negotiating CPC
or CPA IOs for sites like AOL, Yahoo, Lycos, Looksmart,
AltaVista, etc..
2) if I am paying the CPM "going rate"? I have been
paying the same CPM of between $35 - $45 for keywords
over last 3 years and from all that I read should I be
getting a cheaper CPM since banner ads have not been
performing well?
3) if I am getting a decent click thru rate as compared
to other peoples' experience? Our click thru rates usually
exceed the 1% mark which I read is above average. Does
the list agree that 1% is a decent click thru rate or
should I except more since it is key word intensive and
therefore very targeted?
And to share my experience with creatives - our text
link ads are currently greatly out performing our banner
ads.
I thank you all for your time and for any insight you
can provide me with.
Best wishes,
April Lewis
