The key is to understand that most people are not
paying for content and don't want to. Assuming there is
some psychological trigger that will cause them all to
happily fork over dollars is just wishful thinnking.

Well, if that's the case, then they don't need to be
charging for content, do they? And if they don't need
to charge for content, then they don't need to jump
through hoops to keep Google from indexing their PDF
files.
