take down the banner ad

Guess what - content based web sites, DO NOT NEED banner
ads.

Over the last few days, I've been speaking at or
moderating at several panels and meeting a lot of REAL people.
You know what I realized, that I can do a "Rob Frankel" and
make more money without banner advertising.
True I only have several thousand page views per month,
so the dollars I bring in is small. However, I just
realized that if I go BACK to talking with real
businesses and reaching out to real people I can sell
online consulting services!

Hold my hand as I - take the banner down. Not today but
within a few weeks that's my plan.

I've been using the web like some "dot-com" exec instead
of like the owner of mom and pops bagel store - getting
customers and selling product.

I encourage all the smaller sites out there to think
about it. You may be able to increase your revenue by
 a) building up your audiences
 b) selling high margin/profit services to those
customers who rely on your brand!

Who's going to join me?
