Here is what I can share with you...
A typical revenue split is about 60% revenue for the
network, 40% for the Web site. I believe Real Media
is like 60% to the Web site and 40% to them. I am not
sure what DoubleClick is anymore. Engage was 60% for
them and 40% for the site. But these rates vary
depending upon the site and traffic.

The cost for just ad serving varies. Some central
serving products such as Dart or AdBureau or
27/7Connect chare per impression, but also force the
site to give up control of their user data. They make
their money by re-selling your data!! Local solutions
such as AdServer and Open AdStream from Real Media
generally charge a license fee and then a service fee
for support.
For a central solution I would look at Open
AdstreamCENTRAL from Real Media or AdJuggler from
Thruport Technologies. Either one will give you
control over your data without privacy concerns or
lost revenues!
For a local solution I would suggest Open AdStream
from Real Media. it is less expensive to implement
and maintain, offers really good targeting and
delivery functionality and the best reporting I have
seen yet.
If you can, it is always more profitable to handle
your own ad sales and purchase a local ad server!
