UDDI is going to be like DNS for business names. (If
you know what DNS stands for)

According to Micro$oft:

"UDDI is the building block that will enable businesses
quickly, easily and dynamically to find and transact
with one another via their preferred applications."

To me, it looks like a B2B search engine like function
that will be built into programming in the near future.
It reminds me of the AOL keyword search. Depending on
how you have your browser auto search function set up
in Internet Explorer, ( I have mine set to "Do not
search from the address bar" ) you can type in UDDI
Somebodys Company, and get a white page type listing
on that company. If you would like to see it work,
(IE only) clear the address bar completely and type
in:

  uddi pbg marketing

    or

  uddi microsoft

Will this be of benefit to us? only time will tell. It
is being supported by such heavyweights such AOL, Cisco,
Dell, GE, IBM, Intel, and Sun. I do know that very few
people have registered so far, in fact, it looks like
only 10 people from my home state of New Jersey have
registed so far. ( You can also search by geographic
location or business type ) Since registering is free,
for now at least, it might be worth taking a couple of
minutes and signing up.
