I have usability tested the flow from an ad into my
site many times. Testing provides invaluable knowledge
not only as to the perception/effectiveness of your ad,
but to the user's path once they arrive, and the
ease/difficulty with which they can make a purchase
(or other action, as defined by the site). I strongly
suggest anyone planning a long-term buy do some light
usability testing before launch (get the site to bonus
you a few early impressions so you can test live).

If a site I was going to make a long-term buy from
offered to conduct this testing for me, I would be
impressed.

On the similar note, usability testing provides AMAZING
insight into the use of your site. Don't redesign
without it!
