Nicki,

I would say the content of your site would only be "flat"
to people who are probably not going to be surfing to
your site anyway!

My company had this very challenge when we were hired
to create a website for the Plastics division of
General Electric to spread the word about their new
Plastics Decoration process. We decided to create a
"public" side of the site that used colorful graphics
and bulleted points to explain this In Mold Decoration
(IMD) process. Then we turned the rest of the site
into an password-protected interactive Plastics portal
where people could configure their projects and get
evaluations of materials, price quotes, potential
suppliers, 3D models, etc. This format worked well
for GE Plastics, giving real-time information to those
who are in the business, while giving anyone with just
a passing interest some basic, accessible information.

You can check out the IMD site at www.geimd.com, or read
a case study of the project at www.visionarysoftware.com.

Good luck.
