As "luck" would have it, I am currently working on a
web site for a small company providing parts and
service for the power generation industry (electric
turbines and such). They build replacement collector
rings and commutators and do field service to return
systems to optimum performance without taking them
offline - producing huge savings.
Their business has relied mostly on word of mouth for
new leads and contacts. However, the new site will be
marketed by locating other sites for reciprocal links,
participating in online newsgroups and perhaps
advertising on selected industry informational sites.
The site itself will focus on the company's role in
solving problems.
As dull as the products and services are, they are
always targeted at solving a major headache. Trust
that your industry is filled with dissatisfied and
frustrated customers too. Sex doesn't matter if you
have a headache. Assuming your clients have customer
service in mind, making that the focus of your efforts
and the message will draw the interest you seek.
