>I'm sure visitors would hate such a thing, but it seems to

Advertising on the internet will always differ from TV
advertising because using the internet is not a passive
experience for the web surfer in the way that watching
TV is for the couch potato.
This is likely to be the primary reason for the minimal
success of WebTV. Big TV watchers don't want to
be involved, they just want to sit there.
KYLE YAMNITZ ALSO WROTE:
>After awhile, that would be accepted as normal on the web.
That some advertisers and their agencies might consider
it "normal" and "acceptable" would not surprise me, but I
would be very surprised if the average web surfer accepts
full screen or TV like ads on the net without having first
given their permission to see them.
KYLE WROTE IN CONCLUSION:
>Maybe it will happen, maybe not, but sites are going to have
>to do some kind of advertising that would compete with TV.
>Ads like that would perform better than TV because the users
>could also interact with them (i.e. click through and visit a
>web site before the commercial's over).
The average web site is not a broadcast outlet or medium.
To be successful, productive and profitable, web
advertising does not have to mimic TV, even for those aged
thirty-five and under. What is important for people to
understand is that the web is an informative, interactive
medium and people use it for those purposes. Advertising
which informs or allows people to interact will be more
successful than ads which take up a full screen and deliver
an unfocused message.
