Swedish Websites

Below is an article from the IFRA Trend Report which I
thought I would send in. Perhaps we can start a
discussion on whether this revenue model might work
for US websites or not.

SWEDISH DEVELOPERS MARKET 'TRIC' TO SUPPORT
  CONTENT PROVIDERS

(SWEDEN) -- Turning content into cash has been an
ongoing problem for Internet companies worldwide,
which face a marketplace ravenous for information
but generally unwilling to pay for it. Tric.se,
founded by two Swedish entrepreneurs, may have a
solution. The product, Tric, is a filter that enables
sites to block Web surfers when their ISP hasn't
paid a subscription fee to the content site. Tric
will make it possible for content providers to earn
monthly revenues from the ISPs and telcos, which
have generally been the only ones making money
from the Internet. The product is set to hit the
market in September, and Swedish, Norwegian and
Danish telcos are already reported to be negotiating
with Tric.se to ensure that their customers won't
be shut out of key content sites.
