Idea ... follow the clickstream here and tell me if this
makes sense? The more I think about it the more I like
it - it won't work everywhere, but for certain high-
demand content I can see it working.
Step 1: We have this really kool, awesome content we
know you really want but in order to see it you'll have
to view a commercial message first. Click here to accept
our ad and see the content. Click here if you wish to
pay to play with no advertisments.
Step 2: If the viewer chooses to pay, they get shot off
to a payment option or login page before they can view
the content. If they select the free version, an
interstitial pops up in a new window - from a static page
to a full flash or streaming video commercial up to 30
seconds long. The whole commercial must be played before
the content automatically appears in the first window
(add a link at the end of the message and apply any other
necessary browser detection technology that may be needed
to ensure all visitors both get the ad and are able to
get to the content.
Step 3: The ad page switches quietly to the sponsor's web
site ... (by now under the content which the viewer is
reading) but remains up until the viewer shuts it off.
Good plan? I haven't really seen anyone actively using
this process (if you do use it and make a ton of money
maybe it would be nice if you'd remember me. I take
PayPal <g>).
