There are 3 main reasons why the 3 month and 7 day EPC
numbers at CJ vary.
1 - Reversed transactions: The 7 day EPC does not reflect
any reversed transactions, while the 3 month EPC does.
A big range in both EPCs might indicate a high amount of
reversals.
2 - Change with the merchant: CJ's new fees were a blow
to many merchants on CJ. Some that have decided to keep
their affiliate program at CJ have changed what they define
as a paid "lead" in order stay profitable. A lower
conversion now compared to three months ago will lower
the EPC.
3 - Affiliate traffic influx: Affiliates are always
looking for the best affiliate programs. EPC is supposed
to be a good indication of which programs pay the best, so
many affiliates are switching their links to only high EPC
programs. The problem is many of these high EPC programs
have such good results because they receive targeted traffic
from webmasters. When webmasters with untargeted traffic
switch to these affiliate programs, they will get poor
results which will lower the high EPC.
