I devoted a whole issue of FrankelTips to this exact
issue. one of the mian points was that you'd be nuts
to pay for the #1 slot, especially on Goto.com (in
which I have no faith, but that's another issue), since
the top three slots get disseminated to other search
engines.

IMHO, you buy #1 for ego. You buy #3 because you're
smart.
