In traditional media, full page color space in Family
Circle may sell for $7/M and in Model Railroad News for
$35/M. The tighter the select, the higher the CPM. Too
many newsletters/lists were created in past years of
general consumers, thus CPM's are quite low. We publish
46 niche content newsletters from cooking to crafting to
business marketing to family. And yes, we have general
topic newsletters as well. Our general topic
newsletters often yield an effective CPM of $1/M on
offers. However, we did a solo for a children's book
club to our family file with an effective CPM yield of
$65/M. B2B offers often yield even higher.
The tighter the niche or select, the better the effective
CPM will be and the better the lead or sale quality will
be for the merchant. Something traditional direct
marketers and publishers know, something on-line
publishers are finding out, often the hard way or too
late.
