Re: Altavista express inclusion

We tried the Altavista Express inclusion a few weeks ago for a
couple of our new sites we just launched. Although I hate having
to pay for a service that was free not too long ago (remember
when InfoSeek indexed your site for inclusion within 1 minute
for free?) I reluctantly paid the $39 to make sure our site is
listed for 6 month in the AltaVista index.
We found that AltaVista delivered in terms of indexing the site
within the advertised time (even a little quicker). I was hoping
that AltaVista would generate a decent amount of traffic (in
relative terms of course) to our http://www.formsguru.com/ (which
is basically a site with 200 static pages all linked to the home
page - making it perfect for search engine indexing). However,
AltaVista did not deliver in terms of the traffic we had projected
for it.
However, the nice surprise came when I also submitted to the
http://www.inktomi.com index for $30 for one year and started
getting a lot of traffic from the sites Inktomi powers (including
MSN, AOL, etc...). I should mention that we did experience some
billing problems with the 3rd party that handles the billing for
Inktomi. However, in general I am much more pleased with the
Inktomi paid submission service than AltaVista's and believe it
to be the better value.
Hope this helps.
