Smart tags may have been dropped from IE 6 and they
may have had a meta tag to turn them off but Micro$oft
should have never put that feature in their browser.
That threat has been sidelined for the time being and
an even worst threat has cropped up that there really
isn't a way to combat it unless you fight fire with
fire. It pains me to say that there are people
defending these companies that are doing this (Gator,
Ezula, etc.. ) through the argument of "Who are you to
dictate how your site is rendered on a browser that is
installed on my computer". Quite frankly the idea of
micro-payments is looking better to me each time I read
about a company like this. I know that there has been
a way to counter what TopText does to your webpage,
but is there a way to combat something like Gator?
These companies would be a real threat to my sites
revenue once they are launched.
