This is supposed be a discussion list about the market
and advertising BUSINESS. Why is it becoming a group
about affiliate junk and hobby-like deals? Read below
for examples, comments follow. And yes, I am offensive,
arrogant and all that (read my newsletter at
http://www.abumb.com - I am much more arrogant there)
Anyone who signs up for an affiliate program is ignorant
of the industry. Also, affiliate program does NOT mean
CPA. Cost-Per-Action, CPLs etc are something you work
out with an ADVERTISER - it is NOT a program, but a
ROI strategy. "affiliate programs" are lower end models
for saps.
>>"As for Amazon... their payout is stingy, but I
still make a few hundred bucks off them each month."
Much Kudos, but as the person said, this is coffee
money, not a business model.
>>"Others pay me a flat fee of $25 per credit card
acquired." The average cost to acquire a new customer
in the credit card industry is $120. A good sales person
will get as much as $45.
>> "$50 million in commissions and 7Search.com pays
more than $1 million a year in commissions."
Give me a break I don't believe this - is it PR material.
No one is making money off commission junction. If
you have a SERIOUS way of making money selling
products over the internet, you will NOT sign up
for an affiliate program. For example, as above, all
the major credit card companies have affiliate programs
for the saps that will sign up. However, I run a
business, so I approach the VPs, the Marketing
Departments about creating MARKETING PROGRAMS. Yes,
I do get paid in a CPA basis, but I don't use their
"affiliate program". As for 7search, I hope you aren't
serious - this company isn't even on the map of search
engines. I believe they pay out $70 a year MAYBE.
I won't quote all the ignorance. What really blows
my mind is all these people who run these "associate
and affiliate" websites don't seem to be running
websites that make money, but instead are running
websites that are telling other people how to. It's
like the psychics who charge $9.95 to tell your future,
but don't invest in the stock market. AFFILIATE PROGRAMS
SUCK. No one can run a VIABLE BUSINESS doing this. If
you have a viable model to promote products, you don't
sign up for an affiliate program. You work with an
advertiser to generate a COST-PER-ACTION model.
Here is an idea -- if you have a website where you
are making any decent money from affiliate programs,
contact me. We have numerous custom made CPA programs
that will make you 10 times the amount. I run a well
known company in this space, we do millions of dollars
worth of bookings on CPA, CPM and CPC -- so I am not
just running a website that talks about it, a newsletter
than talks about it. I am a living example of making
money in marketing.
