re: affiliate junk -- Some are making money

I am a believer in the affiliate concept, but is HAS been
bloodied by some unscrupulous tactics, and poor products.

Merchants with real products are key. The merchants who only
sell products that tell you how to sell products have run
their course. If they are so good at selling products, why
do they need to design and sell a course or ebook on how to
sell products? It's just lijke stockbrokers. If they are so
good at picking stocks, then they should just do that for a
living, get rich, and stop taking money from people as an
advisor. The problem is that nobody makes them accountable
if they are wrong. The customer assumes all the risk.

I am making a little over $5,000 a year in commissions as an
affiliate for one program. That's more than coffee money for
most people, but not enough to base a company on. My
expenses are $300/year for hosting and administration. I am
trying several other business concepts that currently do not
use affiliate programs, because ideal programs are few and
far between.

I had hoped to duplicate my affiliate success 20 times over,
but ran into poor performing affiliate programs along the
way.

Here are the keys to building a successful affiliate
program.

1) Find a product with a high demand (something almost
anyone needs or wants)

2) Find a program with a high commission (you want as large
a cut as possible per sale)

3) Find a program with the potential for future business
from your clients (follow up sales)

Whether you get a high ranking on a major search engine, or
you use goto.com to drive traffic, you can make money as an
affiliate. It takes some testing, and some simple
math/accounting savvy, but it's not difficult to determine
whether a program is worth more than a test investment.

It's never been cheaper to advertise, and the number of
internet users is rapidly increasing. Cheaper advertising +
more potential customers should = good opportunities to make
money. Find the right affiliate program and the right
marketing vehicles, and you should have success.
