Questions to Ad Buyers...
Fred indicated: 1700 clicks, 600 orders, $29,994 sales
First, to Fred's question, convert rate = 600 orders /
1700 visits = 35.3% conversion
Second, how were your commissions from Amazon only $30?
Amazon pays 15% on book purchases directly from an
affiliate link, 5% on all others.
If the numbers provided above are correct you should
have made between $1500 and $4500 in commissions, or
$.88 to $2.65 a click.
If you got only a .4% CTR, this would represent a CPM
of $3.53 to $10.59 (1700 clicks / .004 = 425k
impressions), which I think most publishers
would take these days.
Note: Practically speaking you need to use Amazon's
/ref=nosim/ tag after the ISBN number AND before your
affiliate id to get the 15%.
For example, if "gehmanscom" is your Amazon affiliate
ID and you want to sell "Why We Buy: The Science of
Shopping" by Paco Underhill, use
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0684849135/ref=nosim/gehmanscom/
not http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0684849135/gehmanscom/.
