Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in the United States, a day in
which most of us don't go to work, we eat waaay to much
turkey and other fixin's, and we watch parades and
(American) football.
These difficult times have served to provide a poignant
reminder that those of us still standing have much to
give thanks for. I know for a fact that one of our
active list members had the entire graphics department
of her company wiped out in the World Trade Center
attack, and I'd imagine that there are many other
similar stories to be told. I know many list members
that have lost their jobs or seen their dreams and
companies go under in these difficult times for our
industry. And I know many business owners that have
gone to extraordinary efforts and assumed great
personal risk and liability to beg and borrow the
working capital necessary to keep their people
employed as long as feasible.
I'm really thankful that the discussion level of the
list has greatly improved the past two months -- thanks
Kevin Frazier for getting folks up off their duffs and
debating again!
Adele is now supporting Tenagra on a contract basis
rather than as an employee, and I've lately taken over
much of the list moderation functions for the time being,
although Adele is still pitching in from time to time.
You have mostly me to blame for a few of the more
self-promotional posts that I've inadvertently let slip
through of late. I'm learning, and I'll get it right
eventually.
I wish you and your families and companies a wonderful
day of thanks, wherever you may be in the world.
