OK Andy, you win. The banner is not obviously a
banner, thus you didn't step over it as we all do
with every other banner, thus it's an "ad trap". I
don't mind if we call it that. It's clear from
your post that the trust between publisher and
reader was lost in this case, for whatever reason.
What interests me more than visitors who come to a
site take stuff for free and then complain about
it, are those who buy the advertising that makes
the whole operation possible. I'm curious why a
forum dedicated to online ad sales shows little
interest in a thread about building trust with
advertisers.
The absence of such a thread here over the past
months makes my point about the state of the
industry better than anything I can think of to
say so I'll leave it at that and move on to
something else.
