Re: CPM isn't dead, it's just sick
I've watched with sadness as this thread has evolved
into a mass of personal attacks by individuals who
should know better. However, amoungst all the
testosterone Mr Bourland has made a valid point that
really explains everything
<snip>
..........Develop a quality content site, grow the
readership and maintain profitability............
<end snip>
The internet has convinced people that they can make a
lot of money without any real effort. We're still hung
over from last year's bubble. I can tell you that it
takes a lot of hard work to make a publishing business
work. I can tell you because 7 years ago i set up my
own business and I'm only just beginning to see some
figures not wrapped in brackets on my spreadsheets!
Mr Bourland is suggesting you produce something good,
develop your readership profile, encourage loyalty from
your readers by giving them what they want, develop
relationships with your potential advertisers by marrying
the two and you are on the road to a successful business.
If you don't have the money to sustain the business for a
long period of time, don't set it up because you'll get
desperate. nothing new here.
