How to get started with new idea

I'm a new subscriber and impressed with the quality
and depth of the posts here!

My background is in web design and technology products.
Recently I developed a product that I think could be a
winner in the online ad arena. I think it offers
benefits over what's out there right now.

Here's my problem - I'm a tech guy. I'm not a
marketing wiz, nor do I have a marketing budget. I
have a product, but not really the means to sell it.

That suggested to me that the way to go would be some
sort of partnership.

However, I'm afraid of offering the product to other
ad companies in fear that they'll just take the idea.
I believe it's unique, but it is something that can
be duplicated.

I'd be thrilled to license it out, to sell it, to
partner it. Whatever. I just don't know how to go
from point A to point B.

I'm trying to find partners in things like web hosting,
etc but I'm not sure if that's the way to go.

I've also considered affiliate programs.

I guess I'm at a bit of a loss. I put in a lot of hours
designing this, I think it works well, and I'm ready to
start looking at ways to profit from it, but am kind of
stuck.

I'd really appreciate any insights or thoughts from those
of you in the industry about the best way to do this.

Thanks!

P.S. It's in the Beta stage right now, and if anyone is
interested in using it for free for a while, just to
help me get the bugs out, please feel free to contact
me. No big focus group or anything, just use it for
free, fun, and maybe even profit, and let me know your
thoughts.
