Topic for the Week: IM Advertising

I'm writing an article about the use of Instant
Messaging (IM) Tools in the business environment
for the next Apogee issue this Wednesday, and I
am interested in hearing people's experience in
buying advertising on IM tools like Yahoo
Messenger, MSN Messenger, AIM, ICQ, and Odigo.

What kind of rates have you paid?

What kind of response rate have you seen?

What kind of targeting have you achieved?

With a tool like Odigo, it should be possible
to target to a demographic level of detail
usually not achievable through Web site
advertising. It should also be possible to
target ads to Odigo users that are visiting a
specific web site, without actually having to
advertise directly on that web site. What
are your experiences?

Inquiring minds want to know.
