Hi Andrew,
Bob Serling gave you some good advice. But you also
should visit http://www.uspto.gov and learn about the
Provisional Patent Application, which gives you the
patent pending rights for one year from date of filing.
Last I heard it was $75. You can now file online.
I am not affiliated with this site either
http://www.inventnet.com
There you will find members such as David Pressman author
of Patent it Yourself, Pal Asija patent agent whom I
believe holds the rights to the first software
patent, and others who have the expertise to guide you.
There are alot of scam companies out there so Beware!
You can also find a list of companies to avoid at both
sites.
Even anyone who develops an idea for online advertising
that is new and original may be able to patent it.
Methods of doing doing business may also be patentable.
Good Luck to you!
Judy
