One thing to keep in mind perhaps is that selling
your product is going to cost you something, in
either money or time.
You can of course set up an affiliate program with
very little money but an affiliate program isn't
much without affiliates. Finding good affiliates,
serving them, and keeping them on your team in the
face of incredible competition from almost every
other business on the Net can be a quite time
consuming affair.
By all means automate the mechanics as best you
can with your budget but people are people and
they will want personal attention. Unattended
affiliates are like your teeth, ignore them and
they'll go away.
If you have no funding then an affiliate program
is a good solution but it's unrealistic to imagine
one can set up the software and then go back to
software development.
Of course I have no idea if that's what you had in
mind, but there's a mistake myself and probably
many others have made in the past, if it's
helpful.
Best of luck!
Sincerely,
Phil
