Red color generally inspire fear, a sense of urgency or
the need to take note.

Yellow grabs attention. It worked well for the
classmates.com banner .. they have used it months after
months and it consistently outperform newer banners.

But overall I feel the marketing effectiveness of those
two colors depends very much on the offers being pushed.
