Case studies of promotional mini-cd's for Web sites

Is everyone still celebrating New Year's?!

I'm interested in case studies of promotional mini-cd's for Web sites. I'm
evaluating whether to use this medium as an invitation to a "party" for a
new company (which is really a way to scout for business). Is there a
reluctance to use these cd's for companies a recipient has never heard of,
due to all the current viruses out there, etc? Is this medium dead?
I'm interested to know the most receptive target - consumers vs. techies vs.
business managers. Any information is appreciated!
