Selling anime advertising - how?

Scenario: I am in charge of generating revenue from
placing advertisements on www.animewallpapers.com.
My experience with banner networks hasn't been very
good; Advertising.com and BurstMedia run very
untargeted ads that get an average clickthrough rate
of 0.05% and a net CPM measured in the single digit
cents!

I recently installed ad rotation software (AdCycle)
so that I can at least test individual banners and
affiliate programs. I've done a little experimentation
with putting up banners for adult anime paysites, and
found that I can achieve $0.20 net CPM relatively
easily; not so great, but 3 times better than before.

I'd like to get some advertisers directly to advertise
on my site, but I'm not quite sure how to go about it.
Does anyone have suggestions? One problem is that
advertising space on anime websites seems to be at
a surplus.
