Online Contests

This question concerns online contests. Does anyone know
whether there have been any studies that look at the
success rates of contests? I currently have a package
good client conducting a contest & we would be interested
to know what qualifies as an average number when it comes
to number of entrants. If anyone's done such a contest,
particularly from a package good perspective, I'd be
interested to know what kind of results were achieved.
