CPM Pricing Models

I've been on this list for a couple of years now -- as
a lurker, I must admit. I do always enjoy reading up on
what everyone has to say, and am curious as to what
your comments are regarding a CPM pricing model.

I work for a small newspaper, with a daily circulation
of approximately 15,000. While sales in general have
been a challenge due to recent economic conditions,
online sales have consistently been less than expected.
We are moving to a new type of ad management system and
we are now reviewing the way we're selling our online
advertising.

Any ideas about CPM pricing? If you have any models
that we could review, I would very much appreciate it.
Even if you're not in the newspaper industry, I'd still
be interested in your thoughts.

Additionally, as we continue to revamp our online sales
efforts, I'm wondering if anyone has some outstanding
online BANNER/TILE creation examples. I'm going to be
doing some training with our artists, and any
standout online advertising would help immensely.
