Ramon,

Your example is one which other small online publishers would
be wise to emulate.

The more you work to develop your audience, the more you
develop a series of products and services that genuinely
serve their needs (so much that they're willing to PAY for
them), the more likely that your audience will become
desirable enough to a few of the right advertisers who may
be willing to pay dearly to have ongoing access to them.

Then you'll be in the attractive position of not having to
be dependent upon any single revenue stream, and become the
master of your fate.
